DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao, accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) of Meluri, Kaitunchap Newmai, visited Government High School, Akhegwo, on Tuesday to review the school’s progress, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities for improving education in Meluri district.


According to an update, during the visit, the deputy commissioner and the SDEO interacted with the school staff, students, stakeholders, and community leaders.


Discussions focused on enhancing enrolment, improving infrastructure, supporting teacher development, and fostering community involvement in school activities.


Tsanglao emphasised that education is the driving force of the economy. He urged the teaching staff, as government employees and paid servants, to be sincere and dedicated in their work, ensuring they utilise their salary without a guilty conscience for the services rendered.

He encouraged teachers and community leaders to support students, particularly girl students, highlighting his own role as a government officer committed to serving the people. Addressing progress and challenges, he stressed that the solutions to problems faced by schools lie within the community itself, urging collective efforts to resolve them.


The SDEO expressed encouragement to the teaching staff and students for their dedication and hard work. He appreciated the community’s consistent support to the school and emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping the future of education in Meluri district.


The visit concluded with a commitment to launch an awareness drive to highlight the importance of education and encourage more students to join the school.


Follow-up actions will be taken to address challenges and review progress.
