Dimapur, June 23: Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland (JVSN) organised a seminar commemorating the 100 years of Albert Einstein’s ‘General Theory of Relativity’ at Rotary Club conference hall, Dimapur, on June 18.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, and chief guest, Kesonyu Yhome, viewed that organizing such seminars would provide opportunities for students to widen their horizons of knowledge and imagination. Stating that the world is running fast with new developments, he said Nag youth should be at par with them in competition. Yhome expressed that such awareness programmes, seminars, lectures are important for the youth as it would help them in developing their personality.
Eeshankur Saikia, Associate Professor and HOD of Applied Sciences from Gauhati University and resource person, talked about the theory in detail and also discussed the importance of the theory and its application in our day to day life.The seminar was attended by 116 students and teachers of science stream form nine higher secondary schools of Dimapur.
The students and teachers were motivated by the seminar as they were keen to ask theory related difficult questions.
During the programme, facebook page by the name ‘Nagaland Science Forum’ was also launched. The facebook page would help students to get in touch with different science scholars and gradually develop into a discussion forum for students of science stream from remote corners of Nagaland.
The votes of thanks were proposed by the joint secretary of JVSN, where he particularly thanked the chief guest for attending the programme till the end despite his other engagements. JVSN also thanked school principals for encouraging JVSN to come up with further programmes, lectures, and seminars in future for students.
