Dimapur, Jan. 26 (EMN): The Power Department Junior Engineers’ Service Association (PDJESA) has decided to wear black badges for three days and take mass casual leave early next month to protest against the failure of the government to meet their demand for promotion.
The PDJESA stated in a press release signed by its president L Hekuto and general secretary Razouvoyi Francis Rhakho that the junior engineers of the Power department were made to serve in the same rank without any sign of promotion for more than 30 years and that some of them even retired with the same rank.
It went on to say that the association had submitted a representation to the government on August 19, 2019, to address the career progression issue of the junior engineers in the state but no positive step has been taken up till date.
The association has decided to express its resentment over the inaction of the government by resorting to a democratic form of protest from February 1 by wearing black badges for three days before going on a mass casual leave for three days.
