Dimapur, March 5 (EMN): Timely intervention by fire personnel averted major disaster from jungle fire which broke at 6th Mile in Sovima’s Pesuozhü ward, Dimapur, on March 4 and at Loyola campus, a Catholic cemetery, in Kiphire on March 2.
An update from the Fire and Emergency Services stated that a jungle fire broke out at 6th Mile in Sovima’s Pesuozhü Ward, Dimapur, on March 4 at around 2 pm. It stated that a team from Fire Station at Chümoukedima along with fire tenders was pressed into service to douse the fire.
It took about 23 minutes for the team to bring the fire under control which was caused by clearing of garden. With no report of any casualty, timely intervention by fire personnel prevented the fire from spreading to other areas.
Another incident of jungle fire broke at Loyola campus, a Catholic cemetery, in Kiphire on March 2 at around 5 pm. It stated that a team from Fire Station in Kiphire was pressed into service to douse the fire.
It stated that timely action of the fire personnel prevented the fire from burning a farm and rest house. It took about 45 minutes for the team to bring the fire under control, it added.
The cause of fire could not be ascertained and there was no report of any casualty.
