Complainant hopes Court to book Zeliang
Nagaland Tribes Council joint secretary K.K Kulimbe who filed a complaint in the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Peren Monday last regarding “false information” provided by Chief Minister TR Zeliang of his educational qualification in a duly sworn affidavit, today expressed confidence that court would deliver speedy justice and book him. He also appealed to all citizens to lend their support and to bring out the truth.
“His action of giving false information and lying about his educational qualification is indeed a great insult not only to my constituency and my district but to all the Nagas as a whole. I clearly understand that though educational qualification is not a criterion for elections I today stand against the false claim made by him on behalf of all the Nagas,” Kulimbe in a statement said.
“I am a social worker and presently the Joint Secretary of Nagaland Tribes Council and I was also the President of NPF Peren Division for two terms. Earlier in the first week of June, 2015 some rumours were spread regarding the qualifications of Mr. T.R. Zeliang that he has wrongly claimed to have passed the B.A. exams in his nomination paper. I became curious to find out the truth being one of the electors and domiciled of the constituency. I filed an application under the RTI Act on 24th July to find out the truth about the educational qualification of T.R. Zeliang. I got the reply on 28th July from the Kohima College, giving the details that Mr. T.R. Zeliang appeared in the B.A. examination in 1979 and had failed in all the subjects and he did not write the B.A. examination in the year 1980.” Kulimbe, a resident of Jalukie town is strongly confident that T.R.Zeliang who is at present the chief minister of the state has furnished false information in a sworn affidavit which he said is a criminal offense and deserves to be punished as per law. “Moreover as a people’s elected representative and the head of a state who has sworn to protect and abide the law has instead belittled and brushed aside that very same law and has misled the people of the state and has committed perjury by giving false information about his qualification on more than one instance,” Kulimbe.
