Mokokchung, April 14 (EMN): Jubilee Memorial School (JMS) has emerged as the overall champion of Mokokchung inter-school badminton championship 2018, which concluded at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung, on April 14.
Out of ten categories, JMS secured five gold medals in U-15 girls single, U-17 boys singles and double, U-17 girls single and double and one silver medal in U-10 boys single categories.
In the U-10 boys single, Tiamoa of St. Joseph Khensa defeated Aowalu of JMS by 15-5: 15-4, while U-13 boys single Wapangmeren A Jamir from QMHSS defeated Sentisang of Yajen Aier GHS by 21-16: 21-9. In U-13 girls single, Sunepbenla of EDHSS defeated Yalimenla of NCRS by 21-14: 21-7.
In U-15 boys single, Imtitong of EDHSS defeated Deepish of QMHSS by 21-7:21-12. In U-15 boys double, Wapangmener Jamir and Deepish of QMHSS defeated Sentisang and Purchiba of Yajen Aier GHS by 21-9: 21-12.
In U-15 girls single, Arenchila of JMS defeated Sunepbenla of EDHSS by 14-21:21-16: 21-13. In U-17 boys single, Chunglitong of JMS defeated Imtitong of EDHSS by 21-14: 21-15. In U-17 boys double, Chunglitong and Imlimanen of JMS defeated Akumsunep and Moamongba of CMHSS.
In U-17 girls single, Imnuksungla of JMS defeated Tiatola of MGHSS by 22-20: 21-14. In U-17 girls double event, Imnuksungla and Limatula of JMS defeated Putsenla andTiajungla of Yajen Aier GHS by 21-11; 21-10.
Chubatoshi, executive engineer of National Highway and proprietor of Ladybird School and the chief guest of the closing ceremony programme, has appreciated to see the youngsters exhibiting their talent particularly in the field of badminton.
He encouraged the young athletics to maintain discipline in life and believed in themselves and apply their talents in a positive way. The two-day championship was organised by MDBA in collaboration with NEIDA, an initiative of Tata Trust. Altogether 78 students participated from 12 schools.
