DIMAPUR — The
Lotha Hoho has maintained that the success story of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)
schemes under Wokha district is “almost zero” or “less than ten percent.”
In a press release dated Jan. 13, the Lotha Hoho urged the
‘Enquiry Committee’ on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Nagaland,
to prepare its report as per the actual ground reality.
The hoho’s statement comes against the backdrop of
constitution of an enquiry committee by the Nagaland government on Dec. 19,
2024, to probe into the allegations levelled by the Nagaland Transparency
Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) on
implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.
“There are token project components such as water tanks, on
which are written JJM slogans and implementation features. However, contrary to
the principles of the programme, actual delivery of water supply to the
villagers (targeted consumers) is almost NIL, which is known to all concerned,”
the hoho said.
According to the hoho, per the RTI reply from the Wokha
division of the PHE department, as of May 2023, nearly forty JJM schemes were
implemented and commissioned in Wokha district under the JJM programme.
“But it is regretted that the programmes (JJM and SBM) have
been complete failures; as far as Wokha district is concerned,” it added.
In light of the above, the Lotha Hoho and its frontal
organisations, urged the enquiry committee to prepare its report as per the
“actual ground reality, of the projects implementation status.”
Earlier, the NTPRADAO had appealed to the state chief
minister to set up a special investigation team and also to present a white
paper to uncover the facts surrounding the alleged “INR 1712.03 crore financial
embezzlement and misappropriation” linked to the JJM.
