Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN): Janata Dal United has taken strong exception to the alleged resolution taken by the Wokha Village Council (WVC) dated March 25, 2017, wherein it resolved to support only Dr. Chumben and that no other person would be allowed to contest in the ensuing State assembly elections.
A JD (U) press release issued by is national secretary general and spokesperson KC Tyagi stated that the resolution has attracted the Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act 1951. He also stated that the resolution was passed with ill intention which also attracted Section 131, 132, 133, 135 of the Representation of the People Act 1951 and Section 171-D of the Indian Penal Code.
In the light of the above stated argument, the Janata Dal (United), has served an urgent ultimatum to the Wokha Village Council to immediately revoke their resolution dated March 25, 2017, pertaining to the ensuing general election 2018.
The JD(U) has affirmed to leave no stones unturned to ensure a free and fair election. JD (U) further stated that it would not hesitate to knock the door of the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the candidature of aforementioned person if the WVC does not judiciously pay heed to its call.
