Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN): The Janata Dal (United) has decided to support the cause of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) after stating to have ‘seriously examined’ the group’s request to the party over the demand for a separate state from out of Nagaland itself.
The JD (U) issued a press release through its spokesperson KC Tyagi. The party assured the people—who are in the ambit of the ENPO—support for their demand for a state. The party was of the view that the demand was ‘justified in so far as the geographical location’ and ‘disparity in term of development.’
Stating that although it could not be included in the party’s manifesto as was released on Feb. 8, Tyagi said that the support for “frontier Nagaland” would be an addition to the manifesto.
The JD (U) has made it clear also that its support was not politically motivated but ‘based on genuine consideration’ besides trying to fulfil the party’s aspiration for ‘development with justice.’ He mentioned further that the state of Jharkhand, which was part of Bihar, was granted statehood with active support from the JD (U).
