Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): The Janata Dal (JD) United on Sep. 23 launched its unit at Guwahati in Assam. Minister Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Bihar, Shrawan Kumar and MP Rajya Sabha Kahkashan Parween attended the programme as the special guests.
A statement from the secretary (organising) JDU, Nagaland H Mukam Yimchungru, said the programme was attended by Afaque Ahmed Khan National General Secretary JDU and Coordinator, NEEC, Sanjay Verma Secretary JDU and member NEEC and host of delegates from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Bodo autonomous unit and other party workers from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress from Assam.
NSN Senchumo Lotha, chairman of the North East Executive Council (NEEC), JDU who is also the president of JDU, Nagaland and general Secretary JDU of Nagaland, Kitoho S Rotokha, in their speech said that the JDU which is National in outlook but regional in character manning by National President Nitish Kumarji, who is also the chief minister of Bihar is working for uplift of the poor and common people not only in Bihar and whole of a nation but Northern states.
The JDU party with its motto ‘Development for Justice’ has been exhibited through transforming Bihar from jungle rule to the epitome of humanity, they said.
The party leaders also mentioned how JDU is fighting both inside and outside of Parliament not to allow the passing of National Citizens Amendment Bill, 2016 in the present forms as it is detrimental for the entire Northeast states and the major setback will be reigning on in the State of Assam.
With launching of Assam unit, they hopes that the party will gain momentum to grow from strength to strength both in the Northeast and nation as a whole.
The marathon meeting was summed up by Lotha by appointing Kaushik Pran Sharma as working president of JDU Assam unit and Preity as convenor of Mahila unit.
Meanwhile, the JDU Nagaland congratulated the chairman of NEEC Senchumo Lotha and Kaushik Pran Sharma, convenor of JDU Assam for successfully launching the party’s unit in Assam.
