Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Janata Dal (United) has expressed solidarity with the Naga people for solution before election to the vexed Naga problem which has been continuing for the last several decades.
A press release issued by the party secretary general and spokesperson KC Tyagi recalled how its founding father Jaya Prakash Narayan, who was one of the members of the Peace Commission of 1964, travelled the length and breadth of the Naga areas in person and had strongly advocated for the right of self determination for the Naga people by making recommendation that the Nagas could “on their own volition, decide to be a participant in the Union of India and mutually settle the terms and conditions for that purpose.” He added that it was for the bold participation by its founding father had to face awkward and hostile crowd all over the country.
At this juncture, when the whole Naga people are in one voice and in one mind wholeheartedly desiring for a solution rather than election, the JD (U) has expressed solidarity with the Naga people. The JD (U) also appealed to the GOI to take into serious consideration the popular demand of the Naga people and apply judicious mind by reciprocating to the situation sagaciously at the earliest time possible.
The JD (U) has assured the Naga people that it would never stands against the wishes of the Naga people but continues to honour and follow the footsteps of its founding father till a peaceful and honourable solution is arrived at. It further appealed to all the political parties to respect the sentiment of the Naga people.
