Dimapur Joint Council Forum urges Dimapur Municipal Council to ensure regular waste collection and sanitation services.
DIMAPUR — The Joint Council Forum (JCF), representing five civic bodies in Dimapur, has appealed to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to address the issue of irregular sanitation services across various localities.
The forum, comprising Middle Point Council, Churches Colony Council, NST Colony Council, Nyamo Lotha Colony Council, and Khermahal Area Council, stated that despite regular payment of the enhanced Residential Sanitary Fee by residents, garbage collection remains irregular.
According to an update, the forum noted that the inconsistency has resulted in the accumulation of waste, causing inconvenience to households and posing risks to public health and hygiene.

Stating that sanitation is a fundamental civic service linked to public health, cleanliness, and household dignity, the JCF stated that services must be delivered with regularity, transparency, and accountability.
The forum appealed to the DMC to ensure scheduled waste collection across all wards, strengthen on-ground monitoring to prevent service gaps, and maintain clear communication with residents regarding collection schedules and corrective measures.
While acknowledging the challenges of managing civic services in an expanding city, the JCF expressed readiness to extend cooperation at the community level and called upon the civic body to take immediate steps to ensure reliable sanitation services.
