Dimapur, July 9 (EMN): Alleging that Selophe village, located adjacent to Nagaland Zoological Park, has been established and recognised by the government without fulfilling any norms/ formalities, Joint Action Committee comprising Rangapahar S Hukavi Zhimomi Colony, Sangtamtila Village, Muruse Village, Thahekhu Village and Thahekhu Block – 7 has appealed the government to immediately de-recognise the village in question.
A press release issued by JCC convenor Hetokhu Awomi said the basic minimum requirement for recognition of a village is to obtain NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the adjoining/ neighbouring village duly forwarded by the competent authority (Deputy Commissioner through proper channel).
JCC claimed that Selophe village was established and recognised by the government without fulfilling any norms/formalities, thereby setting bad precedence. It added that the entire neighbouring villages have boundary issues with Selophe village.
In the interest of social harmony and peaceful co-existence, the JAC appealed the government to immediately de-recognise the village so as to overcome any untoward incident. JAC also stated that the said matter should not be entertained even by the court till such time the said village obtain NOC from the existing villages, failing to which it said JAC will take its own course of action deemed it necessary.
