Dimapur, Feb. 4 (EMN): The 7th edition of Japukong Youth Organisation (JYO) volleyball tournament, half marathon, and debate competition under the theme "Upliftment of Local Talents" was held at Nokpu village from the Jan. 16 till the 18th with Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Urban Development and Municipal affairs as the special guest.
Jamir in his speech encouraged the participants to uphold in the true spirit of sportsmanship, stated an update received here on Monday. He also encouraged all the participants to be a good citizen, responsible and to outshine others in the field of sports as the players have the capacity to uphold the legacy of the pioneers. He also encouraged JYO to continue the good work and also advised and encouraged them to incorporate women's volleyball from the upcoming session for which he assured to sponsor the prize for three consecutive years for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
The second day of the meet witnessed the half marathon which was a first of its kind organised by JYO.
Vice President of All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) Benjongakum Longchar flagged off the event from Changdang village.
