Jalukielo, Dec. 9 (EMN): Jalukielo village in Peren district celebrated 25 years of establishment of the village here at the village local ground on Friday, with the president of Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation (JVYO), Masangum Hieka, as the special guest.
The special guest, in his address, said establishment of a Naga village is not an easy task as there are lots of rituals and traditions to be followed. Hieka said as per Naga customary tradition, villagers who wish to set up a new village should first seek permission and blessings from original landowners and elders, followed by treatises/ dialogue and prayers to the Almighty.
He said Jalukielo village, which was established in 1997 and finally recognised by the state government in 2005, followed all the norms and traditions as per Naga custom.
The youth leader shared that since the village has been established on solid foundation, the upcoming generations of the village would prosper and thrive. He also said that there are instances of villages being “cursed” as they were established without the consent of original landowners and blessings of elders and God.
Hieka lauded the pioneers of the village for their sacrifices and labour which have enabled the villagers to celebrate the silver jubilee. He called upon the villagers to retrospect on how far the village has progressed in the last 25 years, and also to introspect on what they envision the village to be when it celebrates golden jubilee.
He also urged the villagers to cooperate with the government of the day for speedy development of the village.
The JVYO leader further assured that the parent Old Jalukie village would always be there for Jalukielo village through thick and thin.
Earlier, Hieka also unveiled the jubilee monolith, which was dedicated by H Moita, pastor of Jalukielo Village Baptist Church.
