JVYO warns of strict action against vandalism at New Market turf ground and urges completion of the facility in Jalukie

DIMAPUR — The Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation (JVYO) has warned of strict action against individuals or groups found vandalising or misusing the New Market turf ground in Jalukie, Peren district.
In a press release, JVYO stated that its officials, led by its president, visited the ground on Saturday and observed several instances of alleged vandalism and misuse of the public facility.
According to the organisation, certain individuals or groups have been using the ground for purposes other than those intended.
It reported that vehicles had been driven into the facility after damaging the chain-linked fencing.
Burnt marks were also found within the ground, with portions of the synthetic turf appearing to have been damaged by fire.
The organisation further observed that the facility was being used for parties and other social gatherings.
Taking serious note of the incidents, JVYO, as the designated caretaker of the ground, stated that an investigation was underway to identify those responsible.
It warned that strict action, including legal proceedings in coordination with the concerned authorities, would be initiated against anyone found involved in vandalism or unauthorised activities.
The organisation appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any incidents of vandalism, misuse or other unauthorised activities within the facility.
Meanwhile, JVYO has urged the government to expedite the remaining construction work and ensure the timely completion of the New Market Turf Ground, stating that the project has remained incomplete for several years without significant progress.
Highlighting the importance of the facility, JVYO stated that the ground, once completed, would be the only standard-size synthetic turf football ground in Peren district.
It said the facility would provide young and aspiring footballers with a proper platform to develop their skills and pursue excellence in sports, particularly football.
The organisation expressed hope that the completion of the ground would help promote sports and inspire the younger generation.
