- DIMAPUR — The
Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) and the Zeliang Youth Organisation
Dimapur (ZYOD) have condemned the alleged attempted rape of a minor girl,
reportedly committed by a 70-year-old man identified as Inrietsi, a resident of
Peren district.
- The incident is said to have occurred in Dimapur on May 31.
- JSUN, in a condemnation note, expressed shock and stated
that the accused, who had been absconding, was later apprehended in his native
village, Ndunglwa, Peren district, and taken into police custody.
- It urged all conscientious citizens to denounce such
behaviour and added that the incident has cast a shadow over the reputation of
Jalukie village and the broader Peren district.

- “Such acts are utterly unacceptable and violate the fundamental
values of our community,” the statement read.
- The union demanded that law enforcement agencies conduct a
swift, impartial, and thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrator is held
fully accountable under the law.
- “Justice must be delivered promptly and decisively to uphold
the dignity of the victim and restore public confidence in the rule of law,” it
said, adding that the union stands in full solidarity with the victim and her
family and called upon the community to rise united against such atrocities and
collectively work toward fostering a safe, just, and respectful environment for
all.
- Similarly, in a separate note, ZYOD stated that the
individual is reportedly a habitual offender with a history of similar crimes,
making the incident even more alarming.
- “Such a reprehensible act is a gross violation of human
dignity and poses a severe threat to the safety and well-being of our children.
We urge law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action
against the accused, ensuring that he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of
the law.
