Dimapur, Dec. 27 (EMN): Catholic Youth Association Jakhama (CYAJ) celebrated its golden jubilee on December 22 and 23. The celebration began with the invocation prayer and unfurling of CYAJ flag by Rev. Fr. Charles D’Souza SJ on December 22 evening at St. Mary Catholic Church in Jakhama.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Rev. Fr. D’Souza advised the youth to be grateful to God for their parents, well-being, healthy and wealthy lives and uncountable blessings given by God.
The parish priest of St. Mary Catholic Christians Church also told the youth to live like angels since God has a purpose for everyone to live positively while adding that everyone must prepare for the eternal life.
Stating that youth are the middle link between the children and older people, the priest urged the youth to go to church - the home of one’s soul and house of God at least once a week, while reminding them of the commandment to observe the Lord’s day. “Our church is healthy when young ones are present,” he said.
Also stating that youth are the future of the church, Rev. Fr. D’Souza urged them to bring their parent and younger brothers and sisters to church.
Earlier, the Bible reading was done by Keleto John, while blessing of the jubilee gifts was offered Rev. Fr. Benny Varghese, administrator of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama.
Elders of the church were felicitated with presents on the opening day of the jubilee. A special number was presented by Vikukhoto Johnson and friends. The programme was chaired by Kikozol
Richard.
