Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): In commemorating the 2617 birth anniversary of lord Mahavira, various Jain organisations visited the Dimapur district hospital, the Blind School and the Deaf Biblical Ministry and distributed fruits, juices and other edibles to their members. The organisations included the Jain Samaj, Mahila Samaj, Jivan Jyoti, Sanmati Mahila Parishad, Jain Ahinsa Samiti, Namokar Yuva Mandal, and Jain Yuvak Sangh, updates informed.
Altogether 200 were benefitted through the charity carried out by the Jain community. It may be noted that Jain community are celebrating 2617 birth anniversary of their 24th lord Mahavira across the globe on March 29.
Many programmes are being organised at Dimapur’s Jain Temple, Mahavir Bhawan and Jain School. The items included cultural show by Veer Kanya Manch, namokar chanting, morning procession, showering of lord Mahavira for world peace, afternoon procession and feast.
A press release SD Jain Samaj executive member, Ajay Sethi, informed that the Jain community would undertake a procession on March 29 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. covering Jain Temple road- Ram Janaki road- GS road- MP road- Nyamo Lotha road- Kalibari road and culminate at Jain Temple. He has sought to bear with the community during the procession.
