Dimapur, Sep. 19 (EMN): District Tobacco Control Cell, Kohima, conducted a sensitisation programme on harmful effects of tobacco and COTPA 2003 for the jail inmates at District Jail, Kohima, on September 15.
District Nodal Officer, Dr. Arenla Walling, in her presentation, highlighted on the background of tobacco and its scenario in Nagaland. She said tobacco is now the world’s leading single agent of death.
She further highlighted on the prohibition Act of COTPA 2003 where the defaulters would have to pay certain amount of fines. She also urged all the participants to create awareness in their communities.
District Leprosy Officer, Dr. Aseno John Rhetso, sensitised the inmates about the Iodine Deficiency Disease and leprosy.
Altogether 105 persons participated in the programme.
