KOHIMA — Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi expressed concern that students’ degrees should reflect their knowledge levels, which, he said, is not the case with the majority of students in Nagaland.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Chutsolie Memorial Hall of Godwin Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, on Monday.
Expressing gratitude for being part of the celebration, he acknowledged the challenges of running an educational institution in a rapidly changing environment where children’s needs are constantly evolving. He lauded the school authorities and teachers for their commitment towards the school and its students.
He reiterated that a student’s degree should reflect one’s knowledge level, “something which is worryingly absent in the majority of Naga kids”. He cautioned against complacency and urged students to make use of the free information and data available on the internet to enhance their skills.
During the programme, the principal of Godwin Higher Secondary School highlighted aspects of the institution, and a solo performance was presented by Sunep Lemtur.
