DIMAPUR — Zhekishe village and the Baptist Church under Niuland district celebrated their golden jubilee on Monday, attended by Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi.
Giving all glory and praise to God for seeing them through 50 years, the minister encouraged the citizens of Zhekishe village to tread the path envisioned by the founding fathers for the sustained glory and progress of the village.
Touching on the issue of the Disputed Area Belt (DAB), since the village falls under the Aghunaqa area, which shares a border with neighbouring Assam, Zhimomi stated that this particular ‘DAB’ phrase was not coined by the Nagaland government and that ‘DAB’ should not come in the way of the friendship between the two states.
According to a press release, he appealed for restraint and patience, maintaining that better days are ahead.
The minister, in particular, made a clarion call to the youth to step up and claim their rightful place in society with humility as their foundation.
Pointing out that Nagas have their own fields and plantations, he highlighted the glaring reality of Naga youth losing the working culture and how Naga society is overly dependent on outside labour. He lamented that the working class is quickly fading away.
Zhimomi reminded the gathering that money is not the antidote for all problems in society. Appealing for wisdom and farsightedness to be inculcated in their daily lives, he exhorted the gathering to be focused as they begin a new journey of hope.
