Imphal, July 23 (EMN): The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu has called 24-hours Bandh in Manipur in protest against the government’s response to the incident.
However, medical personnel, patients, religious programmes and fire service will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, a press release from the JAC convenor Th Chitaranjan informed on Tuesday.
N Babysana(13) daughter of Tomchou Singh of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai, Imphal west district was found dead hanging inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School in Canchipur on July 18 morning.
The JAC sought support and cooperation from local clubs, women folks bodies, civil society organisations, students’ organisations in finding justice into the mysterious death of the school girl.
Meanwhile, normal life was severely affected in Thangmeiband area under Imphal west district after the committee intensified its agitation demanding justice.
The areas wore deserted look as shops and business establishment remained closed. The streets also wear a desolate look as protestors prevented vehicular movement.
The All Manipur Students Union has announced its support to the movement initiated by the JAC.
