Dimapur, Feb. 6: The Phom People’s Council (PPC) and the Yachem Village Council (YVC) have ‘amicably settled’ a matter pertaining to the demand made by the PPC calling for suspension of the deputy commissioner of Longleng district in the wake of the unrest in Longleng town on January 31.
The settlement was arrived at following a joint meeting of PPC and YVC on February 6 at Longleng town, a press release informed on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that Phom Peoples’ Council had demanded suspension of the deputy commissioner of Longleng, which was subsequently publicized in the local dailies on February 3.
On the contrary, Yachem Village Council issued a rejoinder questioning the PPC over the demand for suspension of the administrator. It had also sought clarification within three days as published in the local media on February 5.
PPC President Chingan Phom and the YVC Chairman M Imti Phom issued a joint statement on Monday stating that the matter between the two parties had been ‘settled and compromised amicably.’
