Dimapur, Jan. 24: Along with the rest of the states, Nagaland will carry out the 1st round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI), on January 29. The Department of Health & Family Welfare is all set to administer Polio drops to over 2.3 lakh eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the state in 2296 polio booths to be manned by 9184 health personnel and 459 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics. Special focus will be given to migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of polio cases.
While thanking everyone for cooperation in the past years, the department appealed all sections of the people, agencies (government and non-government, including the security forces and police), organizations, churches and community leaders and especially parents of children below 5 years to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the “ Two drops of life.”
