DIMAPUR — Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on October 8 handed over a newly extended first-floor classroom facility at Government Primary School, Kevijau colony, and 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village in Dimapur under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The classroom extension, titled “Extension of Class-room 1st Floor for Government Primary School at Kevijau Colony,” was undertaken to strengthen the school’s infrastructure and provide an improved learning environment for students, according to a DIPR report.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who attended the Kevijau programme as chief guest, appreciated IOCL’s continued support to Nagaland through CSR initiatives, particularly in education, healthcare and community infrastructure.
He said the district administration and people of Dimapur looked forward to continued collaboration with the corporation and assured that public welfare requirements would be brought before IOCL for consideration under its CSR priorities.
Nitin Bhatnagar, ED & State Head, IOAOD SO, said IOCL was committed to undertaking meaningful initiatives for communities in areas where it operates.
Recalling discussions held around two years ago at the Deputy Commissioner’s office regarding development support for Kevijau colony, he said he was pleased that the initiative had now been completed and handed over.
Bhatnagar noted that Dimapur hosts important IOCL facilities, including its depot and LPG plant, which supply petroleum products and LPG across Nagaland.
He said the corporation considered it its responsibility as a corporate citizen to contribute to the welfare and development of local communities.
He added that IOCL undertakes CSR initiatives in areas including education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and women’s livelihood and empowerment, subject to its CSR guidelines.
At Padum Pukhuri, 40 solar lights were formally handed over at the village council hall as part of IOCL’s CSR initiative.
The project, valued at around INR 40 lakh, is intended to improve lighting facilities and contribute to safer and more sustainable community infrastructure.
DGM (Operations), IOAODSO, Guwahati, Dipak Pathak, who was the guest of honour, said the solar lighting system required no major maintenance but urged beneficiaries to take proper care of the assets and ensure their upkeep.
He emphasised that the facilities belonged to the beneficiaries and assured that IOCL teams would remain available to provide support when required.
Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who was also chief guest at the Padum Pukhuri programme, described the colony as one of the better-performing colonies in Dimapur and encouraged residents to make full use of CSR opportunities available to communities.
He urged them to properly maintain the solar lights so that they continued to benefit residents over the long term.
The Padum Pukhuri programme was chaired by Senior MGR , Indian Oil, Dimapur Depot, David Buongui.
Chief MGR (HR-CSR), IOAODSO, Guwahati, Malati Malakar, delivered the welcome address, while Padum Pukhuri chairman Aheto Yeputhomi delivered the vote of thanks.
