Kohima, July 17 (EMN): Invictian FC defeated Chedema Kickers 5-3 in the final of the Pezielietsie Youth Organisation (PYO) open penalty kick tournament to emerge champions here at IG Stadium on July 16.
With the win, Invictian FC fetched cash award of INR 50,000 while Chedema Kickers received INR 30,000.
Semifinalists Androit Boys, Zubza, and Hustler FC Pezielietsie received INR 5000 each.
Ruokuosetuo Sachü of Invictian FC was adjudged the best goalkeeper and received INR 2000.
Sparks FC Chedema which was declared the best discipline team also won INR 2,000.
Chairman of North Block - 3 Panchayat (Ward No.3), Jabou Sekhose, who graced the closing ceremony as the guest of honour, handed over prizes to the winners.
Vice president of PYO, Meyietuo Sachü, informed that the penalty shootout competition was organised in aid of the fourth coming golden jubilee anniversary of their organisation to be celebrated in December this year.
Keviselhou Sekhose, PS to MLA Liezietsu and former president of PYO, who also attended the event as guest of honour, appreciated the youth organisation for conducting the competition and said that Pezielietsie colony was one of the "fastest growing colonies" in Kohima city.
Sekhose said people from different tribes come together and live in "peace and harmony" in the locality and with the PYO reaching its 25th year milestone together, he said, was a "true example of unity in diversity."
Altogether, 39 teams -- 36 from Kohima and one each from Dimapur, Tseminyu and Peren districts -- competed in the penalty shootout competition.
Meanwhile, the organisers acknowledged the sponsors, Kohima District Football Referee Association (KDFRA), well-wishers, participants among others for the successful conduct of the event.
