Kohima, March 2 (EMN): The 12th Open Naga Wrestling Meet 2019, convened on March 7 at the Kohima local ground will witness four international wrestlers including three from Myanmar and an American.
The Myanmar wrestlers are Thawng Tling, Mang Hnin Thang, and Tluang Lel Thang, and the American wrestler Rung Lian Ceu. This was informed by the Nagaland Wrestling Association President Neivikuolie Khatsu at a press conference, on Saturday, in Kohima.
Along with them, two wrestlers from Jharkhand—Aryan Panwar and Sagar will also participate at the open competition. Altogether 58 wrestlers have confirmed participation at the forthcoming wrestling competition, hosted by the Angami Sports Association and managed by Botsa Baptist Church.
Keeping in view of the competition, the president appealed the public to keep the roads free from traffic congestion. He encouraged the spectators to come walking, in the case of people coming from nearby localities. Further, he requested the public to park their vehicles properly on the day of the tournament.
The general secretary of NWA, Vekhozo informed that the American wrestler Rung Lian Ceu along with Ang Cung, chairman of Chin World Wrestling has arrived in Dimapur on Saturday. Meanwhile, Myanmar wrestlers will be arriving at Manipur on March 5 and NWA team will receive them consequently. He added that the submission of entries has been extended till March 4 for interested wrestlers.
Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along will be the special quest while Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Board Chairman to the Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries will be the guest of honour. This was informed by Angami Sports Association President Viliehu Nguzhü. A total of INR 6.10 lakh is set for this meet, he added.
Convenor Kechangulie Kense, ground management committee said around 400 volunteers will be deployed for the tournament. He added that they are expecting over 10,000 spectators. Meanwhile, management committee will be arranging two food courts in the ground including pay and use toilet for the convenience of the spectators.
Keeping in mind the plastic free zone, bamboo cups and plant leaves will be enforced to some extent; Kense said and asked the spectators not to litter the ground. One can avail tickets at various categories including gallery at INR 100, chairs at INR 500, and donors at INR 2,000.
