Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): Under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) the 11th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2017 is scheduled to take place on Dec. 4, at the Amphitheatre, Kisama, Naga Heritage Village at 9.am with Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, Minister for PWD, Roads & Bridges, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.
This year’s edition will witness two separate championships comprising of tourist category and general category.
According to NWA official sources, 15 best wrestlers from Angami Sports’ Association (ASA), Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) and Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) including tourist wrestlers will be vying for the ultimate championship. Wrestlers from Maharsatra, Karnataka, Delhi and other neighbouring states had confirmed their participation and further expect foreign tourist to partake in the championship.
The ultimate champion will walk away with a cash prize of INR. 1, 00,000 and the runners-up will pocket a sum of INR. 50, 000 along with citation. The losing semi finalist will also pocket a sum of INR. 20,000 each while the losing quarter finalist will also walk home richer with INR. 5,000 each.
The champion in the tourist category will fetched a cash prize of INR. 15,000 while the runners-up will be awarded a cash prize of INR. 10,000.
