GHSS Medziphema and SFS Higher Secondary School enter the finals of the Medziphema Inter-School Football Tournament.
DIMAPUR — Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Medziphema, and SFS Higher Secondary School booked their places in the finals of the high school section at the ongoing 9th Inter-School Football Tournament organised by the Medziphema Town Students' Union.
In the first semi-final of the high school section, GHSS Medziphema secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Chakhroma Baptist Mission School. Rain played spoilsport during the clash, flooding parts of the ground and making ball circulation difficult for both sides.
According to an update, despite the challenging conditions, Rokovizo of GHSS continued his goal-scoring form, netting in the 17th and 45th minutes. Viselie added a third goal in the 19th minute, capitalising swiftly after his teammate’s opening strike to seal the win.
In the second semi-final, SFS Higher Secondary School edged past Modern Christian School with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a solitary strike from Chontinngam in the 17th minute.
The remainder of the match saw both sides creating opportunities, with Modern Christian School searching for an equaliser, but neither team could convert their chances, allowing SFS to book their berth in the final.
Earlier in the day, the semi-finals were attended by Visakholie Kuotsu, Deputy Ranger, and Ketholezo Makritsu, proprietor of K. Makritsu Enterprise, who served as match patrons.
Both the higher secondary and high school section finals will be played between GHSS Medziphema and SFS Higher Secondary School on September 14.
