Dimapur, Dec.3 (EMN): In a move to foster peace and harmony among the people of different religious faith, Pastors Fellowship Tseminyu along with Peace Channel organised one-day training on peace building and dialogue facilitation skill for people belonging to different communities and religions last week.
The participants decided to form the Peace Forum Tseminyu to prevent, intervene and promote peace among the communities.
President of Pastors Fellowship Tseminyu Rev, Shukhi said in his welcome address that “peace building and skill building is the need of the hour in our Naga society,” according to a statement released by Arhomo C Ngullie of Peace Channel.
Fr. Dr C.P Anto, Director Peace Channel, provided peace building, mediation and dialogue skills training to the participants.
During the training, the participants were made to understand and analyse the various conflicts prevalent in the society. “We need a new society where our children and youth find meaning and purpose in life. It is easily possible if we train the community and church leaders on peace building skills and the children with peace education. The time has come for us to move from cultures of peace to the culture of peace,” said Fr. Dr C.P Anto.
PRO of Peace channel Kishore Dass stressed on the need to have a peace committee in the region. “Once trained for peace they can prevent, intervene and build peace in the respective communities,” he said.
A total of 42 participants belonging to different communities and churches like Lotha Baptist Church, Ao Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Gorkha Baptist Church, Tseminyu Town Baptist Church, Gukhanyu Baptist Church, United Nagamese Church, Tseminyu village Baptist Church, Catholic Church, AG Church, NAP Fellowship, Sumi Church, Tenyemie Church, T. Zisunyu Church, Gukhanyu village Baptist Church and members from Muslim council, Hindu association, and Tseminyu Town Council took place in the programme.
