Inter-district table tennis championship underway in Kohima

DIMAPUR — The 27th Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship, organised by Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA) in association with Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), commenced in Kohima on Tuesday.

Twelve districts are participating in the ongoing four-day event, with both men’s and women’s teams competing for the trophy, which is sponsored by the family of Lt. Tepuruku Alo Sothu and Lt. Nizheto Awomi.

There is also an open individual category and veterans in various age groups, according to an update.

The Advisor for Youth and Sports Resources, S Keoshu Yimchunger, attended the opening ceremony as the special guest.

In his address, Keoshu encouraged the athletes, highlighting that sports cultivate discipline, leadership, and social connections, while also opening doors to professional opportunities such as scholarships, government jobs, and national and international recognition.

The release stated that UTT is providing sports gear and funding the NTTA in its efforts to promote table tennis in Nagaland.
