
DIPHU — The Group B under 15 Inter-District Cricket Tournament for girls began on Wednesday at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) cricket ground, Diphu.
The tournament is being organised by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and hosted by KASA.
Tuliram Ronghang, chief executive member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and president of KASA, inaugurated the tournament.
There were five teams, but Dima Hasao withdrew from the tournament, leaving only four teams: Karbi Anglong, Silchar, Hojai, and Karimganj. The winning team from Group B advances to the quarter-finals.
The first match was played between Hojai and Silchar.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Hojai won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 59 runs in 20 overs with the loss of eight wickets.
In chasing the target, Silchar scored 60 runs in 12 overs, losing two wickets.
Devika Deb of Silchar was named Man of the Match for taking three wickets in four overs while conceding only nine runs. She also scored eight runs.
