- DIMAPUR — The
11th Mon district inter-departmental tournament, organised under the aegis of
Officers’ Club Mon (OCM), was inaugurated on Monday with Deputy Commissioner of
Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, as the special guest and Superintendent of Police,
Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, as guest of honour.
- In his speech, the DC appreciated the officers and the teams
for taking pains to make the tournament a successful one, a DIPR report stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the officers for taking on the initiative in
setting up the Officers’ Club in Mon which, he said, is the first of its kind
in the state.
- Verma said the club will serve as a common platform for many
officers to learn, interact and understand each other, outside of office work,
and appealed to all the members to avail the opportunity.
- He also requested all participants to maintain integrity and
team spirit.
- The guest of honour appreciated the officers for sacrificing
their personal time in organising such an event. Kandpal also requested the
officers and staff of various departments to coordinate and continue to
maintain the same spirit to lead Mon district in all-round development.
- The oath taking was led by Tingten, EE (Power).
- ADC Mon, Pakon Phom, who is also the general secretary of
the OCM, chaired the programme. Earlier, Yangman Lukhim entertained the
gathering with the song ‘We are the champion’ by Queen during the opening
ceremony.
