The 1st Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament kicked off in Tening, Peren, with over 35 teams competing to promote camaraderie, sportsmanship.

DIMAPUR — The 1st Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament commenced at Indoor Stadium, Tening sub-division, Peren, on Thursday with ADC Tening Furhesie Nyuwi as the special guest.
According to a DIPR report, in his address, Nyuwi emphasised that the tournament is not only about winning but also about fostering cooperation, coordination and camaraderie among government departments and employees.
“It’s a solid platform to get to know each other and the people of the area,” he remarked.

He further highlighted the importance of promoting sports among youngsters and encouraging a healthy lifestyle while lauding the organising committee for their efforts.
The tournament features over 21 men’s doubles teams and 14 mixed doubles teams, with matches scheduled to culminate on September 19. The event is being organised by the Badminton Club Tening.
