Dimapur, Mar. 5 (EMN): An inter-college youth festival dubbed the ‘Powwow 2018’ got underway at Tetso College in Dimapur on Mar. 5. 22 colleges are stated to be participating in the festival.
The participating colleges are Public College of Commerce, St. Joseph University, Mount Mary College, C-Edge College, Sakus Mission College, Pranabananda Women’s College, CIHSR Nursing College, ICFAI University, Unity College, Cornerstone College, St. Joseph College, Jakhama, Kohima Science College, Oriental College Kohima, Patkai Christian College, Eastern Christian College, Government College Dimapur, Sazolie College, City College, Immanuel College, Model College, NIT Chumukedima, and Tetso College.
Hekani Jakhalu, founder of YouthNet, inaugurated the event as the guest of honour. She administered the oath to the participants and delivered a brief but powerful message about the advantages of youth to be at the right stage. She said youth are not too young to be incapable of making a difference and not too old to be burdened with responsibility either.

Kvulo Lorin, director and administrator of Tetso College, welcomed all the participating colleges and encouraged them to use Powwow 2018 as a platform to form stronger bonds, reconnect and learn from one another in the true spirit of sportsmanship and respect.
Dr. PS Lorin, founder and principal of Tetso College, also launched the Tetso library and officially announced it opened to all public in an effort to encourage reading not only amongst students but children, parents, elders and anyone from around the community and Nagaland to use its reading resources. Tetso library will be opened from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The youth festival is being sponsored by Indian Entrepreneurship Foundation (IEF), Youthnet, Hidesign, Universal Power Solutions, Kapraa Kohima, GSports, Sports Lifestyle, King Sports, Brand New Day, 96 Innovations, Breeze, Baskin Robbins and Fun Cinemas. Day-one saw a contest in basketball, badminton, volleyball in sports and extempore and stand up comedy competitions and online gaming, mobile legends knock out rounds. Results are updated on the college Facebook page and college website.
In the men’s basketball competition, Unity College won over Mount Mary College, while Sazolie College won over Dimapur Government College, St Joseph College Jakhama won over Sakus Mission College, Oriental College won over C-Edge College, Kohima Science College won over St. Joseph University, Immanuel College won over Cornerstone College, and Tetso College won over CIHSR.
In the women basketball, Tetso College won over Immanuel College, Mount Mary College won over Cornerstone College, and Unity College won over CIHSR.
In the men’s volleyball, Tetso College won over Cornerstone College, Eastern Christian College won over Immanuel College, Public College of Commerce won over City College, Mount Mary College won over Kohima Science College, Dimapur Government College won over Unity College, SM Cpllege won over ICFAI University, and St. Joseph College Jakhama won over C-Edge College.
In the women’s volleyball, Unity College won over Pranabananda Women’s College, Mount Mary College won over City College, ICFAIC University won over Tetso College, and Immanuel College won over Kohima Science College.
