- DIMAPUR — Several
educational institutions across Nagaland observed International Mother Tongue
Day on Friday by organising various activities. The day was observed with an
aim to promote linguistic diversity and raise awareness about the importance of
preserving indigenous languages.

- BMS Jotsoma: The Baptist Mission School in Jotsoma village
celebrated International Mother Tongue Day with leaders of the village.
- The chairman of Jotsoma village council along with members,
head GB with other GBs and chairperson of Jotsoma Baptist Church Women's
Association with her colleagues and some parents attended the programme.
- The school’s headmaster, VJ Thomas, welcomed the dignitaries
and highlighted the importance of mother tongue. The village chairman, Rodolie
Nagi, exhorted the students with the history of Jotsoma village, while
Zakiebeito Senotsu, head GB, spoke on 'Moral education in Naga culture,' and
Neilhouzono Nagi, chairperson of BTKJ, spoke on 'The importance of mother
tongue.'

- PVHSS: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS),
Dimapur, observed International Mother Tongue Day by organising a special
assembly, where students spoke about the importance of their mother tongue and
its significance in their lives.
- A short speech was also delivered by the school’s principal,
Monoj Bhattacharjee, wherein he spoke on the importance of promoting linguistic
diversity and multilingual education. He also encouraged students to take pride
in their mother tongue and foster sense of cultural identity and belongingness.

- Oriental College: Oriental College Kohima (OCK) celebrated
International Mother Language Day at the college auditorium.
- Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khriereizhünuo Dzüvichü,
college’s principal, highlighted the shift in societal attitudes toward
language use.
