Dimapur, Oct. 30 (EMN):
In the run-up to the bye-election to 60-Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituency, scheduled for November 3, cash worth INR 6 lakh and few bottles of IMFL have been confiscated, reportedly from BJP workers.

The additional deputy commissioner of Pungro, Abhinav Shivam, informed that the confiscated items were seized by the Pungro Village Students’ Union while carrying out a clean election campaign under its jurisdiction on October 28 and the 29th.

He added that the confiscated cash has been sent to the election expenditure monitoring committee through the district election officer (DEO) and deputy commissioner of Kiphire.

He also informed that the seized liquors were destroyed and the designated election committee would question the person from whom the cash was recovered for further investigation.

Shivam added that they are following the Election Commission of India's procedures, and round-the-clock surveillance in being conducted in the area.
