[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he twin gates that lead visitors to Myanmar’s Namphalong market complex have been shut down by residents of Moreh town on the Manipur side of Indian border since early Wednesday in protest against the missing of two Punjabi traders in Tamu town of Myanmar.
All business establishments in Moreh town in Chandel district and Namphalong market complex remained close as commercial activities were seriously affected by the shutting of the twin gates. Namphalong is located on the fringe of Tamu.Official sources informed that the gate numbers 1 and 2 at Moreh were forced to shut by its residents, spearheaded by members of Chamber of Commerce, Moreh, in protest against the failure of both authorities of India and Myanmar to ascertain whereabouts of the two Punjabi travelling salesmen till date after they disappeared under mysterious circumstances on February 11.
There is still no trace of the missing two Indian nationals—Sanvendar Singh, 30, also known as Jacky from Uttar Pradesh and Daljeet Singh, 33, hailing from Mumbai—since February 11 after they entered Tamu in Myanmar through the Moreh Gate No-2 at Moreh town on the border.
