Imphal, July 31 (EMN): The first ever state level open indigenous wresting championship organised by Autonomous District Council (ADC), Senapati got underway at Senapati district headquarters, 60 km north of Imphal on Sunday and will culminate on Tuesday by holding the final rounds.
The wresting championship was organised as part of the 45th Raising day celebration of the Autonomous District Council, Senapati under the aegis of the State Government of Manipur today at the mini stadium, Senapati District Head quarter. Altogether 121 participants from all over the state are participating in the championship. The championship is being held in two categories, one below 65 kg and another about 65 kg.
The second day today saw players entering the pre quarter finals and are preparing for the quarter final knock out bouts which will start from today. Morning session prior to semi final and final bouts will be held with the arrival of the chief guest from Churachandpur.
Those who entered the quarter final rounds are mostly from Senapati district while one from Kakching is also in the quarter finals, reports said.
The opening session was attended by Chairman, ADC Senapati ML Markson as the chief guest, vice chairman ADC Senapati Hingba John and all the district level officers of Senapati district.
