India’s new Covid-19 cases lowest in 45 days at 1.27 lakh; 2795 fatalities last 24 hours

Dimapur, June 1 (EMN): New Covid-19 cases continue to decline in India, reporting 1,27,510 (1.27 lakh) fresh infections in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in 54 days, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

While the daily positivity rate dropped to 6.62 per cent, less than 10% for eight consecutive days, the new cases on Tuesday pushed the country’s tally to 2,81,75,044 (2.81 crore).

India's active Covid caseload declined to 18,95,520 (18.95 lakh) and 2,59,47,629 (2.59 crore) patients have recovered so far at 92.09% recovery rate after 2,55,287 (2.55 lakh) recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 2,795 fresh fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 3,31,895 (3.31 lakh).

The Health ministry informed in another update that “the government of India has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, more than 23 crore vaccine doses (23,18,36,510) to States/UTs”.

‘Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 21,51,48,659 doses, as per data available at 8 am on Tuesday. More than 1.57 crore Covid vaccine doses (1,57,74,331) are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,’ it added.
