
Dignitaries and others during the inauguration of InSPA NE
regional centre at St. Joseph University in Chümoukedima on February 27.
- KOHIMA — The
northeast regional centre for Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA) was
inaugurated on February 27 at St. Joseph University (SJU) under Chümoukedima by
the InSPA national president, Prof. Panch Ramalingam.
- Speaking at the inaugural programme, Prof. Ramalingam
assured the gathering to promote school psychology in northeast India through
the regional centre.
- Dr. Gnanadurai, vice chancellor of St. Joseph University,
Chümoukedima, expressed happiness over the opening of InSPA northeast regional
centre and encouraged the InSPA authority to sustain the efforts for a long
term collaboration to promote academic programmes.
- Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Zavise Rume, professor
at SCERT, Nagaland, said that InSPA has connections and collaboration with many
countries across the world and expressed hope that the NE regional centre would
bring the academic world closer to St. Joseph University.
- He also proposed a training programme on school psychology
for teachers so as to make school psychology a universal service for all
students.
- Prof. Wael MF Abuhasam at Palestinian Arab American
University was one of the resource persons of the event. Other resource persons
who spoke during the function included Dr. D. Rajendra, national secretary of
InSPA, and Dr. Shripuja Siddamsentty, InSPA clinical psychologist.
- Dr. Watinaro Longkumer, associate professor and head of
Psychology at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, chaired the programme, while
Rev. Sr. Dr. Thaines Mary prayed for the programme and Areni Tungoe, PhD
Scholar and InSPA member, delivered the vote of thanks.
- It mentioned that InSPA is one of the biggest and the most
powerful professional organisations for school psychology in India based at
Pondicherry University, Puducherry. It has international connections and
collaboration.
- It informed that all the activities and programmes of InSPA
in the northeast region would now be coordinated at its regional centre at St.
Joseph University Chümoukedima, Nagaland.
