DIMAPUR — Indian Railways is organising a
massive recruitment exercise for filling up of numerous vacancies. More than
two crore candidates have applied against these recruitment drives, stated an
update from Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
All the eligible candidates would have to undergo a
computer-based test which will be conducted at different cities across the
country. The first phase of the recruitment process has already started from
Nov. 25and will last till Dec. 29. The remaining phases will start from March,
2025 onwards.
To conduct the recruitment examination in a transparent way,
coordination from respective state governments has been sought. The
computer-based tests (CBTs) are being conducted with support of respective
state governments.
A senior officer of state has been nominated as a nodal officer
to coordinate with the chairman of Railway Recruitment Board for smooth
conducting of the massive recruitment drive. To ensure the authenticity of
candidates, Aadhaar-based identification verification was carried out for all
the eligible candidates.
It may be noted that, Indian Railways recruited around five
lakh employees during 2014-2024. While during the previous decade (2004-2014),
only four lakh employees were recruited.
“This marks a 25% increase in employment provided by Indian
Railways compared to the previous decade. For the first time in the history of
Indian Railways, an employment calendar has also been published,” it stated.
All vacancy notifications were issued as per the schedule.
As per the calendar plan, dates for the computer-based test exams for the post
of assistant loco pilots, RPF/sub-inspectors, technicians, junior engineers and
others were notified. The recruitment examination for assistant loco pilots was
conducted over five days across the country.
Meanwhile, the Railway administration urged eligible
candidates to be cautious of job rackets, brokers and middlemen and not to fall
into any kind of trap.
