
Participants and organisers during the two-day training on
organic and natural farming held at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur.
- DIMAPUR — The
Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Imphal, Ministry of
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, organised a two-day training on organic and
natural farming for extension officers and officials of the Nagaland State
Agriculture Department.
- This was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Council
of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, on March 18 and
19 at the Training Hall, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, according to an
update.
- The inaugural programme featured Boidevi Shuya, District
Agriculture Officer, Chümoukedima, as the special guest and over the course of
two days, participants benefitted from technical lectures, hands-on practical
sessions, and field visits facilitated by resource persons from ICAR-KVK
Dimapur.
- These technical sessions primarily focused on the need,
principles, and benefits of organic and natural farming; pest and disease
management in organic farming; soil health and nutrient management;
post-harvest management of organic produce; integrated organic farming systems;
the importance of livestock in organic farming; current government schemes for
the promotion of organic and natural farming; bio-input preparation;
certification systems in organic farming; and marketing and branding.
- The valedictory session featured chief guest Dr. Homeswar
Kalita, head of the Regional Station, ICAR Nagaland Centre. During the session,
certificates and Assam lemon saplings were distributed to all participants.
