Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): To promote trade in the South East Asian countries, India and Myanmar governments are scheduled to sign a trade agreement on July 17 in collaboration with various business associations of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland as well as with the Chamber of Commerce of Myanmar.
The agreement to this effect was taken at the business launch between SNY Co. Ltdand the Northeast Region on June 11 at Mandalay Shwe Pyi Thar Hotel, Myanmar, which was attended by minister of Mandalay Ethnic Affairs; Consul General of India, Mandalay; President of Mandalay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its members; Chairman of Tamu Border trade Chamber of Commerce; and Neiphiu Rio, MP of Lok Sabha.
U Sai Kyaw Zaw, minister of Ethnic Affairs, stated that North East of India and North West of Myanmar shares about 1600 km stretch between the two countries. He has stressed on political, social, culture and commerce stability between the countries. He has advocated promoting commercial activities between the two countries to raise the living standard of the people.
He mentioned that Mandalay CM, Dr. Zaw Mint Maung, along with his cabinet ministers have agreed and supported the idea for border development during the dinner party at U Wang Yu’s Café Relax restaurant on May 9, 2017. He further appreciated U Wang Yu, Managing Director and owner of Shwe Naung Yan Company, for taking such an immense step with the aim of developing the border areas.
Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio, while keeping in mind the vast potentiality of natural resources in Myanmar as well as the North Eastern Region of India, stressed at strengthening connectivity to ASEAN countries through North Eastern Region of India.
He said the existing trade route from Tamu-Moreh, Ridh – Zokhawthar was in need of immediate development apart from border trade centres such as Pangsha-Lahe-Khamti, Longwa- Lahe, Chenmoho - Lahe, Avankhu-Layshi, Ukhul -Sompra –Tason and Kongsa - Nangyum.
