Dimapur, August 15: Along with the rest of the country, districts and sub-division across the State have celebrate the 70th Independence Day celebration with pomp and gaiety. The day was marked with presentations of cultural show and talent display to the amusement of the spectators.
PEREN: In Peren, the Independence Day celebration was held at the Multi-Disciplinary Outdoor Sport Complex, New Peren, where the State Home Minister, Y Patton was the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national tri-colour flag and took the Rashtriya salute from seven parade contingents comprising DEF Peren, 9th NAP (IR), Sainik School Punglwa, Peren Government College, St. Xaxier Higher Secondary School, All Saints Higher Secondary School and band display by 18 Assam Rifles.
The chief guest also gave away awards to the best performing Self Helf Groups (SHGs) and two progressive farmers.
The day was also marked with visitation of organizations to various institutions. The entertainment programme included cultural dance by Kipeuzang (Heraka), JNV School Jalukie and band display by 18th AR.
MOKOKCHUNG: The 70th India Independence Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, with the minister of Health & Family Welfare, P Longon, as the chief guest. The chief guest inspected 11 parade contingents. As part of the Independence Day celebration, special items were presented by Miss. Katibenla, students of Fazl Ali Collage, Assam Rifles band, Menden Reju cultural club Mongsenyimti, Tazulenden cultural society Mopungchuket, Phom Union and Gorkha Union Mokokchung.
ZUNHEBOTO: In Zunheboto, the 70th Independence Day was celebrated at Zunheboto local ground with the minister of Rural Development and REPA, CL John, as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and inspected 22 parade contingents led by Parade Commander, Assistant Commandant, 8th NAP, Pholosing Sangtam.
Special presentations such as men folk dance (Aphilo Kuwo) from North Point Colony; martial arts display by Olympic Higher Secondary School; drill display by St. Anthony School; tug of war and presentation of Vande Mataram by 5 Assam Rifles have marked the celebration.
The minister also inaugurated stalls put up by various departments and Self Help Groups (SHG).
MON: In Mon, the 70th Independence Day was celebrated with the minister of Mechanical, National Highway & Election, Nuklutoshi, as the chief guest at local ground, Mon, wherein he unfurled the tri color and took national salute from 18 contingents comprising of the 6th NAP DEF; Village Guard; Ex-servicemen; NCC, GHSS, Mon (Boys); NCC, GHSS, Mon (Girls); NCC, GHSS Mon D; NCC Konjong Higher Secondary School, Mon; Bharat Scouts and Guides; GHS, Mon C; Police Unit School Mon; Edith Douglas School, Mon; Christ King School, Mon; Model School, Mon; Angjong School, Mon; St. Mary School, Mon; Don Bosco School, Mon and 6th NAP Pipe Band.
The highlights of the day included a song ‘We are Indians’ by Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Training Institute, Mon; drill/ choreography by Don Bosco School Mon; Little Flower School Mon; display of martial art by the junior students of Konjong School Mon; cultural dance by Ao cultural troupe WATSU Mon; and Hah Mongchi Cultural Women Club Mon.
The 70th Independence Day was celebrated in Dimapur at DDSC Stadium where the minister of PHE, Tokheho Yepthomi, unfurled the national flag and inspected 15 parade contingents.
Other highlights of the celebration included special song by Musik-A (Alobo Naga School of Music); Dog show by 173 Bn CRPF; cultural presentation by Shena Old Union Dimapur area; Narsen Lotha Cultural Club; Diphupar Lotha Baptist Church; Garo Cultural Troupe, Garo Baptist Church Eralibil.
The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various departments, NGOs and army units.
: In Phek, the 70th Independence Day celebration was observed at Phek local ground with the minister of Forest, Environment & Wildlife, Dr. Neikesalie Nicky Kire, as the chief guest.
He unfurled the national flag, took Rashtriya salute and inspected the parade contingents comprising DEF Phek; Home Guards; NCC boys; GHSS, Phek; NCC Girls Bn, GHSS, Phek; Bharat Scouts Royal Foundation School, Phek; Bharat Scouts Christian Home High School; Bharat Guides Royal Foundation School; Bharat Guides Christian Home High School; Bharat Guides Christian Mission High School; GHSS Phek; Royal Foundation School; Holy Care School; Christian Mission High School; Christian Home High School; Bishop Abraham Memorial School; and Pipe band by 46th Assam Rifle, Phek.
District awards were also given away on the occasion.
The 70th Independence Day celebration in Wokha was observed at local ground, Wokha, with the minister of Power, Kipili Sangtam, as the chief guest, where he unfurled the national flag and inspected 17 parade contingents led by
parade commander and Assistant Commandant of 7th NAP, Senti Jamir.
Other highlights of the programme included folk song by Senthan cultural troupe, Longsa women cultural troupe, drill display by Cistus School, song by differently abled persons and choreography by Adolescent Girls Club.
The 70th Independence Day celebration in Kiphire was held at the local ground, Kiphire, with the minister of School Education & SCERT, Yitachu, as the chief guest.
The chief guest unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade consisting of 13 contingents and band party. Other highlights of the programme included patriotic song, choreography, drill display by Hindi Institute, Saramati School and Agape School, Kiphire. Seyochung Village Union, Kiphire town, and SangpinTah Troupe, Kiphire town, have presented cultural dances.

In Longkhim town, the 70th Independence Day was celebrated with the Chairman of NSMDC, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, as the chief guest at public ground, Longkhim town. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and inspected eight parade contingents comprising Phir Ahir VG, Chungtia VG, NCC High School Longkhim, Mt. Sinai School, Baptist High School, GMS Longkhim, Government High School Longkhim, Green View School Longkhim and Living Local Band Longkhim.
Highlights of the programme included PT display by Christ King School Angangba, folk dance by VG contingent and women dancing troupe Angangba.
Staff of Nagaland House, New Delhi, celebrated the 70th Indian Independence Day at Nagaland House 29-Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi, wherein the Principal Resident Commissioner (PRC) Nagaland House, Jyoti Kalash hoisted the national flag.
The function was attended by officers and staff of Nagaland House and visiting guests from the state.
: In Pfütsero, the 70th Independence Day celebration was observed with Adviser of NBDA, NEPED, Naiba Konyak, as the chief guest, where he unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade contingents.
The parade contingents included DEF Pfütsero, Pfütsero Government College, Chakhesang Mission Higher Secondary School, Nazareth School, Bharat Scouts and Guides, TMT School, Union Christian School, Government Higher Secondary School and Baptist School Pfütsero.
Highlights of the function included presentation of National Anthem by Baptist Theological College, sweets distribution and beating of the retreat.
In the Tuensang, the 70th Independence Day celebration was observed at the Parade Ground with the minister of Transport & Civil Aviation, IT&C, P Paiwang Konyak, as the chief guest. The chief guest inspected the seventeen contingents comprising DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP, VG Khutei, VG Nangpong, Ex-servicemen, NCC GHSS boys and girls, NCC GHS Chaba, 3rd NAP School, Bharat Scouts and Guides GHSS, GHSS Thangjam, Tulip Residential Academy, Samaritan Open troupes, Neihei Open troupes contingents, HaühyangChoba Pipe band and 3rd NAP pipe band.
A patriotic song was presented by students of Loyem Memorial School, Tuensang. Cultural items were also presented by the Chang, Khiamniungan, Sangtam, Yimchunger and Heri Cultural Club. Inter-ward penalty shootout competition was also held to commemorate the celebration.
Pughoboto sub-division celebrated the 70th Independence Day with the Parliamentary Secretary of Agriculture, Dr. Benjongliba Aier, as the chief guest. The minister was accompanied by Additional Director Rongsenienla, Joint Director Helie, Joint Director Nosezole, Deputy Director Sannenpfu and other officials. The Parliamentary Secretary unfurled the tri-colour national flag and inspected eight parade contingents comprising of DEF Pughoboto, 8th NAP, ‘A’ Coy Naltoqa, GHS Pughoboto, Govt. Middle School Pughoboto, New Foundation School and Mission School SABAK.
Hundreds of school children from Mission School SABAK, Pughoboto, displayed colourful drill chorography and a special song titled ‘Love of my love’ was presented by Katoshe Chishi from Forest Department. The Parliamentary Secretary also inaugurated stalls. As part of the celebration, free anti-babies vaccination was also organised by the V&HA Department.
The 70th Independence Day celebration in Satakha town was observed at the Public ground with MLA, Vikho-o-Yhoshu, as the chief guest, where he unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from the parade contingents. Entertainment and cultural items were also presented which included ‘Jai Ho’ by New Horizon School, Bollywood dance by Evergreen School, Patriotic song by Merry Vale School, Jhansi Ka Rani by Hillboto School, folk dance by GHSS, and Imuno Pi Suzho by Highland School. Exhibition volleyball match was also played between 111 Bn BSF and teachers from Satakha.
Independence Day was celebrated in Sanis Sub-Division with SDO (C) Nchumbemo Ezung as the chief guest. After unfurling the national flag, the chief guest delivered the Independence Day speech and took salute from DEF personnel. The national flag was hoisted in all the government offices. National Anthem was sung by students of Government High School, Sanis. EAC Sanis, members from Aitepyong and a host government of officials, public and students attended the programme.
