Wokha, July 2 (EMN): Incessant rain in the last couple of days have cut off Wokha district from the rest of the State particularly along the road connecting Assam.
Following incessant rain, landslides have occurred in some sections of the road towards Assam resulting in the complete halt to vehicular movement. District Disaster Management Authority reported that both public and commercial transportation have come to a grinding halt following the disaster.

It stated that widening and restoration works along the Wokha- Merapani road at both the affected portions ie at 53 and 59 km stretch is in full swing from July 1 afternoon.
On July 2, the Authority has deployed one backhoe loader and one poklen to complete the widening work at 59 km. The Authority was hopeful to make the road operational by July 3 evening.
Besides, it was reported that the whole of road stretch from Baghty to Merapani is in complete danger of getting washed away if there is any heavy rain in the coming days.
