I took the liberty to write on the FAITH IN ACTION Team and raise awareness to the general public about them. Many may be aware or may not be aware but they are a team of young men and women comprising from 15 to 25 years of age from Dimapur who have been performing Martial Arts and Taekwando with an aim to evangelize and share the love of God. I have never met any of the members and their leaders personally but their exemplary works, their dedication and commitment to their profession have not gone unnoticed.
Recently Faith in Action Taekwondo and Martial Arts Team have made not only India but our State Nagaland proud by being the World Champion in Team Aerobic event recently held at the World Taekwondo Hammadang 2014 from August 21 to 24 at Pohang city, South Korea. They also managed to break the 40 year old national jinx to win a team event at the international arena and they were the only squad to win Gold medal for India besides winning individual gold( long kick)1 silver medal ( long kick )10 bronze medals. A Total of 13 medals. The Journey of Faith in Action was not without some hiccups on the way as Narrated by Deep Kumar the founder of Faith in Action during our Telephonic conversation, before leaving Nagaland the FIA team have approached Youth Resource and Sports Department for financial assistance but the Department was unable to help them with the reason that the department is facing a financial crunch. Though disappointed the team decided to do their own fund raising and have faith in God. On reaching Delhi due to Visa problem the team missed their flight and two of the team members had to return to Nagaland out of 21 team members which was another disappointment but nevertheless they did not lose hope. The Sports Minister of Nagaland had send Rupees one Lakh to the team out of his own pocket which was a huge help but still they needed more funds to purchase new flight tickets. As all hope was losing out of nowhere a stranger by the name Mr. Baliram Sharma around 60 plus years accompanied by his daughter from Himachal Pradesh who came to drop his son in law at the airport in Delhi seeing the team approached them and asked what happened? When the team narrated their story the man said he will help them since he had faith in them that they will win and also because he loved Nagaland and North East. The next day the man helped the team with a cash amount of Rupees 2.70 Lakhs with the agreement that the team pay him back within a months’ time after they reach Nagaland. This man may be a stranger but for the team he was an angel send from God.
The story does not end here. The team now has to pay back the stranger who had faith in them and has a huge task of raising Rupees 2.70 lakhs. Upon enquiry I was told that the FIA team has no resources to pay the man back and still continuing to have faith in God. So as citizens and well-wisher’s can we join hands to help the Faith in Action Team in raising the funds to pay back the good man? Since Faith in Action Team is our very own Team from Nagaland.
