“Music my life!” States Zaza, a talented 21 year old singer and song writer. With her father as her musical influence, Zaza decided to follow her dream of becoming a musician.
At present, The budding musician is pursuing musical courses in Electronic Music Production(EMP) and DJing in Bangalore.
Zaza does not associate herself with one particular genre, but tries to experiment with various types of music. She enjoys listening to Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and artists such as Bob Marley, Adele, Ingrid Michaelson, Jason Mraz, Imagine Dragons among many others.
EASTERN MIRROR: A little intro about yourself as a professional musician….
Zaza: My name is Zaza. Born ans brought up in Kohima. I did my schooling from kohima and college from Patkai. I took EMP (Electronic Music Production) and Djing from Bangalore.
I started singing at a very young age and had a keen interest in learning music. My dad is my inspiration to take up music as a career and he has always supported me in this field.EASTERN MIRROR: Apart from singing what made you shift your concentration to DJing.
Zaza: I do believe and aspire to be a good musician. Music has been an integral part of my life since childhood and Djing being a new found interest which is needed as a profession for all occasion makes me try and explore the possibilities of making an experience enjoyable and entertaining through this form of art.
EASTERN MIRROR: What has been your biggest break in the industry?
Zaza:My biggest break in the industry is the release of my single ‘A Lil’ Taste’. This song won me an award for Best Pop Music in Nagaland Music Award 2015
EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your first original song “A li’l taste”. What was the inspiration behind it and why the complicated title?
Zaza: The song ‘A Lil Taste’ is just an imagination and things that inspired me to express in writing but nothing personal. And the title is nothing complicated. It’s just simple as that as it comes.
EASTERN MIRROR: Your dad being the backbone of your ‘music career’ what advice do you have for parents who fail to understand ‘music’ as career.
Zaza: Yes my dad and mum are the people behind my success in making music as my career.
Nagas are musically talented which I believe is a God gifted talent and with our English official language as an advantage I feel we can go far in the field of music.
The state government has taken a bold step in promoting music as an industry by setting up the Music Task Force and a music academy. This will greatly encourage the youth to pursue music not only as a pastime or hobby but also take up music as a career option. I feel we should provide our full support to such enterprising youth and encourage them in their pursuit for greater heights. There is an ocean of opportunity waiting for those musically inclined, but in the face of so much competition, it will not be an easy road. However with our God given talent and hard work and with his blessings there is no reason why we cannot succeed. I would request all parents whose children are musically gifted and are keenly interested to encourage them to take up music as a career option. Music has no boundaries, it is a language which everyone understands and does not differentiate nor discriminate between Color, caste or creed all are equal.
I wish and do hope many parents wish and dream with their kids whatever the dream maybe what matters is the believe and trust that builds the confidence to achieve the dream to reach.
