Shrotryia was speaking as the resource person at the webinar on the theme ‘Lifelong learning in the light of NEP 2020,’ organised by the North East Christian University (NECU) in collaboration with Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on April 29.
He highlighted that there are two types of infrastructures- physical and non-physical infrastructure.
Under non-physical infrastructure, researchers and students are prepared to have broader thinking, he noted.
“The objective of National Education Policy (2020) is to prepare students to become job creators and not job seekers. Students must create industries, become entrepreneur, create institutions and contribute for the cause,” he said.
Shrotryia opined that if a teacher thinks that he or she is a courier agent who carries messages and delivers from one place to another, such a teacher will not have a future.
“Education is not a transaction, education is an experience and if the teachers are involved in giving that experience to students, the students will take up the responsibility of the nation,” he added.

“We can do what we want to do. You can take up music with B.Sc if that's what you like to do or physics with entrepreneurship or skill of your choice. One can come out of the traditional thinking and pursue any career of one's choice,” the professor said.
“We can design the market according to our choice,” he said and further noted that the “future of India looks bright when we enjoy the fruits of NEP 2020.”
Meanwhile, the chief guest and the vice chancellor of Tripura University, Prof. GP Prasain, highlighted that there are various courses under NEP 2020, which could be taken as lifelong learning process.
“It is not possible to give jobs to every graduate, therefore, students need to be self-employed. According to this policy, it is compulsory for every student to learn one skill paper,” he said.
The webinar was chaired by Dr. Partakson Romun Chiru of NECU, while Dr. Razoukhrulu Curhah of PCC proposed the vote of thanks.
